A BRIDGE TO PERMANENCY

The foster care placement of a child who requires a safe, structured and, possibly, permanent family situation in preparation for permanency. This can occur through family reunification or adoption. The emphasis of this program is to provide a therapeutic, healing environment.

BAPRC believes that every child deserves a safe, loving family environment. For approximately 106,000 children in California's foster care system, this is just a dream. Many of these children are living away from their birth families because of abuse (drug, mental, sexual and/or physical.) Numerous children have been traumatized by their experience and require a nurturing environment for healing. The Bridge to Permanency program is vital in that it prepares children to return home or move to an adoptive home.

BAPRC's Bridge to Permanency program is a service that protects the children. It emphasizes creating and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment that provides healing and stability for a waiting child. BAPRC is dedicated to providing the best quality programs and services to children through careful screening, education, and support of families interested in foster: parenting a child in need of a stable, caring environment.

BAPRC's philosophy is that the foster care experience should be a bridge back to the child's birth family when appropriate. It can also be a bridge to finding permanency through adoption. BAPRC's foster parents are in partnership with us to serve children and their families and assist them in achieving their permanency plan and goal.
